Prime Minister Gordon Brown supports our campaign ... by mistake

The first-ever reception at No10 Downing Street for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) community hosted by the Prime Minister and his wife took place earlier this month.

Gordon Brown described the passing of Proposition 8* in California as "unacceptable".

This clearly means that he is strongly opposed to the annulling of legal marriages, yet his own government whilst under the premiership of Tony Blair forced pre-married transsexual people, who had been legally married far longer than those in California, to do just that.

*Note Proposition 8 is the Californian ballot which withdrew the previously confirmed right for same sex couples to marry by limiting marriage to 'a man and a woman'.

Will he now revoke that decision and and allow us to continue our interrupted marriages?

We find it interesting that Sanctity, being the only group with the continuation of pre-existing marriages as its sole campaign, was 1. Not invited to the No 10 reception and 2. Has not been invited to take place in any other discussions, despite the fact that other trans-groups who do not represent our situation have been.

It should also be noted that a letter to Tony Blair when he was Prime Minister was not even replied to!
